Costa Cruises will be homeporting the Costa Victoria in Laem Chabang port which is near the capital city of Bangkok.

It is the first time Costa Cruises has homeported a cruise ship in Thailand and President Buhdy Bok said that the country is one fast becoming one of the most popular destinations among Asian and international cruisers.

Costa Victoria is one of our cruise lines pioneering the Asia-Pacific region. We will continually expand in Thailand by launching our first home port cruises from Laem Chabang,” he said.

Mr Bok also said that Thailand will not only be a destination market, but also a source market for maritime tourism.

The captain of Costa Victoria Giovanni Cosini said Thailand is one of the fastest growing in the region. The ship will be cruising for four night itineraries and will explore Sihanoukville in Cambodia to Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

Already in Thailand, Thai cruise bookings sailing within the country are outnumbering foreign tourist bookings. It’s believed that out of the 2,000 passengers onboard Costa Victoria’s inaugural cruise from Thailand, 1,500 of those are locals.
