The largest cruise ship to be built for the UK market was seen outside an Italian shipyard this week with the largest version of the Union Jack painted on its hull.
To paint the Union Jack on P&O Cruises’ Britannia, crew at the Italian shipyard used 280 litres of red paint, 40 litres of dark red, 80 litres of blue and 20 litres of dark blue, according to The Telegraph.
The 3,600-passenger vessel is the largest ship to be built for the UK market and will utilise the line’s 175-year heritage to create a modern and authentic feel onboard.
Along with the Union Jack, the ship will have blue funnels.
Britannia is scheduled to enter service in March next year.
