Luxury cruise company A&K selling Australia to Asia market

Renowned luxury travel brand A&K has seen an upswing in Asians looking for adventure and outdoor trips, says Sujata Raman, boss of the premium travel operator in the region.

The Melbourne-based managing director, who has worked for A&K for more than 25 years, said she noticed increasing numbers of Asian tourists – especially from China – visiting Australia because of the open spaces, clear blue skies, fresh clean air and wide range of seafood.

Seasoned Asian travellers from Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan are not looking for shopping holidays in Australia. They will travel to Lizard Island which has several heritage listed sites for a luxury break.

One of Australia’s fastest growing holiday destinations is Tasmania where visitors can combine an active walking holiday in the wilderness with excellent food and wine experience.

Others may head to the Kimberley for a celebratory cruise, South Australia’s Barossa Valley or the luxury resort Southern Ocean Lodge for short breaks.

“What A&K offers is the luxury experience. We travel in small groups so that everyone will have easy access to local tour guides. It is a unique introduction to fascinating destinations accompanied by our own expedition crew,’’ she told Cruise and Travel Asia.
