Wen’s new role was announced at the liner’s Chinese New Year gala dinner in Singapore.
Currently Head of Sales of Asia Pacific for Royal Caribbean, Josh Wen will be expanding his portfolio to oversee Singapore trade sales.
His new appointment was announced at the company’s annual Chinese New Year appreciation dinner for trade partners, held in Singapore at the Grand Hyatt hotel on January 25, 2019. The cruise liner also commemorated its 50th anniversary during the dinner celebration.
Wen now takes charge of a total of 15 markets in Asia: Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam. He takes over the reins from Mona Foo, Head of Business Development, who now focuses on corporate sales and operations in Asia.
Prior to joining Royal Caribbean three and a half years ago, Wen worked in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry, specialising in trade strategy and management.
Addressing the crowd of around 200 invitees at the event, Angie Stephen, Managing Director of Asia Pacific, spoke of achieving a greater synergy for trade operations under Wen.
She said, “Trade and distribution will now be under one team with a unified focus. It’s a great opportunity for synergy, strategy and collaboration in driving even better results across the region. With Josh’s expertise in handling multiple markets in Asia, I’m confident that he and his team will be a great asset and support for our partners in building up their business for the next decade.”
Stephen also expressed gratitude to Royal Caribbean’s trade partners for their support and contribution to the company’s global success the past year. Awards were given out to top performing trade partners as well, with recipients including travel agencies like Citystate Travel and Chan Brothers.
“Royal Caribbean is in an exciting time of transformation with the arrival of two Quantum Class ships here, including the new Spectrum of the Seas, new itineraries and dry dock projects coming up,” added Stephen. “So the newly expanded team will work even more closely with all of you for a successful year ahead.”
